While taking x-rays our patients need to remain very still and often in unnatural positions. Most pets feel uncomfortable about doing this and your wriggly pets may require sedation or possibly be anaesthetized. This will allow us to take the best quality radiographs possible. Where it safe to do so for your pet and our staff we will take some radiographs without sedating or anaesthetising your pet.

Our digital equipment allows us to store images on your pet’s records once the radiographs have been taken. This enables us to show you the image and results can easily be emailed to specialists should the need arise.

To assist our veterinarians in the evaluations and diagnosis of concerns involving soft tissues QVCC is also equipped with an ultrasound machine. This machine requires intensive training and is a very important part of our diagnostic process. Our equipment is digital and state of the art which allows us to store images on your pet’s records once the ultrasound is complete. This enables us to show you the images and results can easily be emailed to specialists should the need arise.

In order to perform a good quality diagnostic ultrasound patients need to remain very still and so will most times require sedation or anaesthetic to gain the best views possible.

Although majority of our treatments and diagnostic services are very serious, our ultrasound machine is also one that brings many smiles to our faces with the diagnosis of pregnancies.

If we do need to sedate or anaesthetise your pet our imaging room is fully equipped with oxygen, anaesthetic machines and state of the art monitoring equipment the same as if they where in one of our surgical theatres.
