EXOTICS & WILDLIFE

Specialist Care for Birds, Reptiles, and Pocket Pets

Exotics & Wildlife

Caring for non-traditional pets, such as birds, reptiles, and pocket pets, requires specialised knowledge and dedicated facilities.

At Quality Veterinary Care Centre (QVCC), our team includes staff with special interests in exotic species and is equipped to provide comprehensive veterinary care for your unique family members. From routine health checks to critical medical treatment, we are committed to delivering the same high standard of care to all creatures, great and small, in the Yeppoon area.

DEDICATED CARE FOR EXOTIC PETS

We are proud to extend our quality services to cover a wide range of exotic animals. Unlike traditional domestic pets, exotics often require specific housing, nutrition, and husbandry, which our vets and nurses are trained to advise on.

EXOTIC PET SERVICES

We provide a full spectrum of general care and medical services tailored to the needs of exotic pets:

  • General Health Checks: Routine wellness exams are essential for catching the subtle signs of illness often masked by these species.
  • Preventative Health: Expert advice on species-specific nutrition, housing, and husbandry (the environment and care necessary for their well-being).
  • Medical Treatment: Management of conditions such as respiratory issues, vitamin deficiencies, skin problems, and chronic illnesses.
  • Surgical Procedures: We are equipped to perform necessary surgery on exotic pets, where appropriate.

WILDLIFE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION

QVCC is dedicated to supporting the local ecosystem. We provide compassionate care for injured and sick native wildlife in our community.

  • Initial Treatment: We provide initial emergency assessment and medical treatment to stabilise injured native animals.
  • Dedicated Ward: Our facility includes a separate Wildlife Ward, ensuring a quiet, low-stress environment where wildlife can recover safely, away from domestic pets.
  • Collaboration: We work closely with local wildlife carers to facilitate the full rehabilitation and eventual release of the animals back into their natural habitat whenever possible.

If you find injured wildlife, please contact us immediately for advice before attempting to handle or transport the animal.
